I Dig Books

My name is Allison Diehl. That's me standing above a historic Civilian Conservation Corps retaining wall along Highway 191 in Arizona. I have been a professional archaeologist since 1995 and a children's bookseller since 2005. It all started with my love of reading as a child. Being a strong reader set the stage for success in school and provided me with the means to explore the world no matter where life took me.

As a parent, one of my greatest successes was passing on a love of reading to my children. As we explored books together, I realized that there are a lot of mediocre and downright bad books in the world. Finding the exceptional ones takes effort and time. When I find a great book, my instinct is to share it with the world. This blog is my vehicle for bringing my discoveries to you.

As an archaeologist and lover of science and history, I am focusing on books that touch upon my areas of expertise. I hope my insights are helpful to you.

You can learn more about the consulting work I do in the areas of archaeology and historic preservation here.
